At the construction site Motorway A2 / Piatek in Poland, we were facing quite a special challenge. The casing pipes that have been leased from us and that had a dimension of 1500/1400 mm were stuck in the ground as a result of inexpert manipulation by an Irish company. They remained there for about 4 weeks. After such a long time, settlement processes of the ground made the recovery of the 15 m casing pipes almost impossible at first. Only with the application of a drilling rig BAUER BG36 and the later use of a casing oscillator with a torque of more than 2000 kNm and a lifting capacity of 1800 kNm, it became possible to accomplish our goal and pull the pipes. At the site, Torsten Hoffmann and Dietmar Hanßke supervised the operation, that took 4 days long. Momentarily, 10 drilling rigs with torques between 28 and 36t, are working at the same time at the impressive bridge construction site Piatek (near Lodz) of 1.7 km length. The successfully participating special civil engineering companies are from Poland, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Spain and Latvia.
