The conversion of drilling rigs into various low-head variants by temporarily shortening the mast is now almost part of our “daily bread”. However, you don’t see a converted LIEBHERR LB30 drill every day. Whether it is beautiful is debatable, but if the site conditions require it, this aspect naturally takes a back seat.
Our customer SL Spezialtiefbau had taken on the job of drilling boreholes with a diameter of 1000 mm for Deutsche Bahn, with the overhead line switched on and a safety distance of 3 meters. This was possible with the ultra-low head variant LIEBHERR LB30 ULH—height after conversion 11.87 m, torque 297 kNm.
