The joint venture of Implenia Construction GmbH / Johann Bunte Bauunternehmung SE & Co. KG is building retaining walls as safety structures on Germany’s A281 federal freeway for the client DEGES GmbH.
This involves drilling approx. 600 bore piles with a diameter of 880 mm, both vertically and at an inclination of 6:1, to a drilling depth of 12 m. And that’s not all: The work is right in the approach path of Bremen Airport, and safety regulations also stipulate a maximum permissible height for the construction machines used on site. There aren’t many rigs on the market that provide the performance needed for this auger diameter and drilling depth AND comply with the limited mast height of under 10.50 m. After the ULH conversion, the RH27 undercuts this value at 10.43 m.
The equipment, consisting of drilling rig, ULH conversion kit, short tools and pipe segments, was rented from BWH in Hainichen and pre-configured there before the start of the work. BWH currently uses 14 pile-driving and rotary drilling rigs from ABI and DELMAG in its rental fleet.
